Special Education Teacher 6th- 8th grade

FLSA Status: Exempt

SUMMARY
Responsible for providing speech and language services and appropriate intervention services to eligible students by performing the following duties.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops strategies to meet the needs of each individual student on their caseload.
  • Modifies and develops daily curriculum needed based on techniques required for individual learning styles and approved curriculum such as lesson plans.
  • Works with parents, administrators, school psychologists and other professionals to develop Individual Educations Plans (IEPs) for each student.
  • Acts as coordinator of IEP implementation with the general education staff.
  • Monitors student progress and participates in review and revision of IEP as appropriate.
  • Completes report cards and progress reports on each student’s progress.
  • Assists other professional staff in diagnosis of learning disorders, development of planned remediation and evaluation of student progress.
  • Maintains appropriate student data and other records and submits reports as required.
  • Attends professional meetings, educational conferences and training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.

LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATH ABILITY
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and electronic IEP software.

EDUCATION
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S.) in general education with an emphasis in special education from four-year college or university; or Master’s degree (M.A. / M.S.) in special education or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Pass the Special Education APEA

CERTIFICATES
Arizona finger print clearance card

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND OTHER ABILITIES

  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate with students and general education teachers regarding accommodations/modifications of IEP
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents
  • Ability to write pertinent, measureable, specific and appropriate IEP goals that meet student needs
  • Ability to determine appropriate evaluations for students and help design curriculum from gathered data
  • Knowledge of IDEA procedures and timelines

After-School Program Teacher

SUMMARY
We are looking for After-School Program teachers for part-time positions. The position requires strong classroom management skills, a positive attitude, flexibility, and a sense of humor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Substitute Teachers

SUMMARY
We are looking for Substitute Teachers for all subject areas. The position requires a deep knowledge base of subject area, strategic curriculum planning ability, quality teaching methods using multiple modalities, strong classroom management, a positive attitude, flexibility, and a sense of humor.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Title I Teacher's Aid

SUMMARY
We are looking for Title 1 Teacher's Aid for a full-time position. Will work with 1st - 8th grade students on a pull-out basis, with a focus on math. Will work directly under the Title I Coordinator to facilitate needs of Title I students to work individually and in small groups.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Complete application, Paraprofessional certificate and AZ Fingerprint Clearance card.
